Kate Boag is an Australian painter living in Newcastle. Having always had an interest in art, Kate studied Bachelor of Natural History lllustration at the University of Newcastle (2015). This training in scientific and precise illustration work gave her a strongly developed eye for accuracy and precision in her art making. Following graduation, she attended the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney where she developed her skills of observation and traditional techniques of oil painting before branching out and exploring looser forms of painting. Kate’s works are predominantly created in oils, using the natural world as inspiration. Landscapes are a favourite subject with forests making a regular appearance. Many of her works are inspired by the Blue Mountains and the Central West. |
